About Shaun Bowker, PA-C

A native Californian, at a young age Shaun’s family settled in Santa Barbara. Growing up here, he enjoyed all the opportunities that this area provides to be active and engage with nature. After graduating from San Marcos High School, he moved to the Rocky Mountains and continued to develop his passion for all things outdoors. Especially snowboarding, mountain biking, and whitewater rafting. This is also where he started his journey in medicine. Following a snowboarding injury that sparked his interest in the field, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Western Colorado University in Gunnison. He gained diverse clinical experience working as an EMT, a Clinic Technician in urgent care and sports medicine, and an Emergency Department Technician. He then came back to California to pursue his Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Dominican University of California in San Rafael. He expanded on his training from PA school by attending an emergency medicine residency at UCSF Fresno. He then worked in emergency departments on the central coast before returning to Santa Barbara.

He is excited to be utilizing his experience in both sports and emergency medicine to serve the community in which he grew up. As an avid outdoors enthusiast, he understands the holistic importance of lifelong activity and is committed to helping patients continue their favorite ways to keep moving.

When not at work, he can be found surfing, biking, hiking, enjoying live music, spending time with family and friends, and heading off to the mountains when the snow gets deep.
